Dr. Stephen Edgerton's roots run deep here in the Carolinas, after growing up in the Queen City of Charlotte. But the rich tapestry of his past is weaved together with colorful youthful years spent not only in the Tarheel state, but also in Caracas, Venezuela; Bogota, Columbia; and Connecticut.

In fact, his fondness for North Carolina led Wilmington dentist, Dr. Edgerton back to Raleigh where he attended North Carolina State University, graduating with a BS in zoology. Following this, he earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) from the University of North Carolina, the rival of his former alma mater.

Recognizing his affection for, and dedication to the people of North Carolina, Dr. Edgerton joined practice with Dr. Fisher in Wallace, the small quaint town where his parents had grown-up.

The two respected dentists later expanded their Wallace practice, continuing to deliver the same cutting-edge care they had become known for. They included a broader range of cosmetic and restorative dental services through their Wilmington dental office.

Continuing Education for the Wilmington Dentist

In 1988, Dr. Edgerton sought to further his education at the world-renowned Pankey Institute, completing all six continuum classes, as well as additional coursework in Esthetics, Advanced Occlusal Therapy and Sleep Disorders. Since then, his ongoing participation in the Master's Forum has allowed him to also study with the world's most respected dental educators. This has allowed him to further his knowledge and skills sets, providing his valued patients with an array of expert dental services that truly address their every concern.

Today Wilmington dentist, Dr. Edgerton remains an active Pankey Study Club member, continuing his quest for lifelong learning and development.

This quest also led Dr. Edgerton to become certified in Invisalign, invisible braces that help his patients more discreetly achieve their ideal smiles without the use of metal braces and brackets.

Dr. Edgerton also remains very active with the AACD.

Despite all of this, Dr. Edgerton enjoys a healthy balance of his passion for dental work and his love for his wife and their four children. The Edgerton family enjoys golfing and boating, and Dr. Edgerton has been active in Boy Scouts and the Rotary Club. He works as a volunteer in Give Back A Smile, dedicated to providing cosmetic dental care at no cost to survivors of domestic violence and at the Tileston Clinic.

A true artist who strives to help patients achieve optimal oral health, he delivers dentistry that is both excellent in form and function and esthetically perfect in his and his patient's eyes. Dr. Edgerton is the first to admit that he doesn't want to have the biggest practice; but instead the best.
